Akshuhini

Many of mahabharata fans have confusion
about a word Akshuhini. In veda vyasa
mahabharata it is described as -
1 chariot, 1 elephant, 5 foot-soldiers, and 3
horses forms 1 Patti;
3 pattis make 1 Sena-
mukha;
3 sena-mukhas are called a 1 Gulma;
3 gulmas = 1Gana;
3 ganas = 1 Vahini;
3 vahinis = 1 Pritana;
3 pritanas = 1 Chamu;
3 chamus= 1 Anikini;
10 anikini = 1 Akshauhini.
Best of Brahmanas, arithmeticians have
calculated that -
Number of chariots in 1 Akshauhini is twenty- one thousand eight hundred and seventy
(21870).
The measure of elephants must be same
number (21870).
The number of foot-soldiers is one lac nine
thousand, three hundred and fifty (109350).
The number of horses is sixty-five thousand, six hundred and ten (65610).
We all knw tht in final war the total number of
soldiers of both Pandavas and Kauravas
together was 18 Akshauhini.
So the total description of armies of both sides is as follows:
Chariots (with maharathi and sarathi)=
3,93,660.
Elephents (with or without riders)= 3,93,660.
Horses (with riders)= 11,80,980.
Foot-soldiers= 19,68,300.
The cooking department, doctors, helpers,
somaras departments are not included in
numbers.
